MEDIUM LEVEL: routes for people who are in good physical condition or are accustomed to walking in the bush, even if they have no experience with snowshoes. Routes to peaks or very characteristic areas of the Guadarrama National Park. Distances greater than 5 km and less than 8 km, with positive slopes greater than 300 meters and around 6 hours of activity.

You can choose between the following snowshoeing routes, medium level:

  • Navacerrada Port:
    • Sietepicos: route to one of the most beautiful peaks of the Sierra de Madrid for its characteristic seven peaks, one behind the other. We will leave Puerto de Navacerrada, we will go up to the telegraph and from here we will keep going up until we reach the first peaks: the Somontano or seventh peak of 2138 meters altitude. The return will be by the well-known Schmidt path, that runs through a beautiful forest until we reach our starting point.
    • Peak of the World Ball: well-known and elapsed route since this peak is an icon of the Community of Madrid. We will leave Puerto Navacerrada at 1860 meters towards Pico Dos Castillas, 2179 meters, where we will find the highest rise. Once there we will go to another famous peak of the National Park, World Ball, 2258 meters, characteristic for its antennas and ski slope at its feet.
  • Port of Cotos:
    • Peñalara large lagoon and Zabala refuge: ruta at the foot of the highest peak in the Community of Madrid, Peñalara with 2428 meters. We will leave the Port of Cotos, We will go up the path of the lagoon until our first detour that we will take and in a short climb it will leave us in the small Refuge of Zabala (high mountain refuge in case you get bad weather). From here we will descend towards the Great Peñalara Lagoon, where we will find beautiful views of the National Park and a clearly marked glacial valley. Finally we will return to the starting point.
