PEDRIZA – HIKING IN MADRID
LOW: hiking trails in Madrid 4 a 5 hours, one of 8 km away or positive slope less than 400 meters, no technical steps.
- Charca Verde - Collado Cabrón - Refuge. Circular route which runs parallel to the Manzanares river, very close to his birth, where we will know some of the most beautiful pools of this river and the National Park, We will go up through a beautiful pine forest to Collado Cabrón to change the valley and reach the Giner de los Ríos Refuge. The descent will be along the highway path to the parking lot. Distance: 7,500 km. Unevenness: + 390 meters
- Poyos Bridge - Giner de los Ríos Refuge - Cantocochino. Beautiful route that runs through a beautiful forest and near the river. The Giner de los Ríos Refuge will leave us at the first stop. (there is bar service and meals), from here we will go back into the forest with a small climb to reach the incredible granite arch called Puente Poyos. From here we will continue to Collado Cabrón where we will only have the descent to the parking lot. Distance: 9 km. Unevenness: + 450 m
- Route to the base of the Yelmo from Cantocochino, El Tranco or the Maeso path. Route that takes us to the icon of La Pedriza, the great granite mass called Yelmo. We can leave from various points of the Park, at the beginning we have a climb that is divided into sections, that leave us in beautiful meadows with spectacular views, until you reach the great wall. The descent can be done by the same path or a small circular, to get to the starting point. Distance: 8 km. Unevenness: + 650 m
INTERMEDIATE: hiking trails in Madrid 5 a 7 hours, from 8 km away or positive slope greater than 500 meters, possible technical steps.
- Circle to Helm. Cantocochino - Helm - Collado Dehesilla - Refuge - Cantocochino. Circular route in which we will arrive at the base of the great granite mass called El Yelmo, on this journey we will have beautiful views. We will cross the meadow at its base to go around it and reach the back to descend to Collado Dehesilla, from where we will have another incredible point of view of La Pedriza, From here we will go to the famous stone known as Tolmo and in a little more we will arrive at the Refuge where to rest and have a drink. Now we only have to take the path called the highway to reach the starting point that runs through a beautiful forest and parallel to the river. Distance: 10,500 km. Unevenness: + 650 meters.
- Route to the Santillana Wall. Route that takes us to this great wall near the end of La Pedriza, in a wild and little traveled area. We start in Cantocochino where we will take the highway to reach the height of the refuge pass it and continue towards Tolmo, From here we will go to the Cancho Amarillo to continue climbing to the Santillana Wall. For the descent we will go towards the quiet Window from which we have a good descent leaving the Pájaro on our left to get back to the highway and return to the starting point. Distance: 11 km. Unevenness: + 500 meters
ALTO: hiking trails in Madrid full day or two days, with distances greater than 12 km or slopes greater than 700 meters, technical steps, exposed or aerial.
- Ascent to the summit of the Helm. It is like the route offered in the mid-level part, but with the addition of the ascent to the summit of the Helm by a canal, which will require us to take technical steps to raise and lower it. Distance: 10,500 km. Unevenness: + 750 m
- Route to the Torres de la Pedriza. Cantocochino - Cuatro Caminos - Collado Mirador - Torres. Route that takes us to the highest point of La Pedriza from which the views are spectacular. Incredible and hard route in which we will know a large part of La Pedriza. We will depart from Cantocochino, we will take the highway, We will leave the refuge on our left and continue climbing until we reach the quiet Mirador, In this area we can see the posterior Pedriza and the other area of the Guadarrama National Park where the famous Cuerda Larga route passes. We will make a small climb to the Torres highest point of La Pedriza. We will return to the Mirador pass and return to the starting point through the PR-1 that crosses the highest part and where we will descend several channels in which we will find several technical steps. Distance: 14 km. Unevenness: + 1100 meters
- Circular to La Pedriza (recommended in two days) Circular route that runs through the upper part of La Pedriza, in which we will skirt the whole of it and pass through most of the best known points of La Pedriza. Without a doubt the best way to get to know La Pedriza as it has incredible views, passageways and labyrinths areas, technical steps, shag. You can plan to bivouac or sleep in the shelter. Hard route where we'll get in tune, due to the leg breakers that we will find in the frequent ups and downs. Distance: 22 km. Unevenness: + 1.500 meters.
